How to use the Vinted fee calculator

The Vinted fee calculator lets you check in seconds what stays on your side and what the buyer pays in total. Fill in four fields and you get three results straight away.

What you enter:

• Item price — the amount you list your item for. Defaults to 50.
• Buyer Protection — % of price — the percentage part of the fee. Defaults to 5.
• Buyer Protection — fixed fee — a flat amount added on top of the percentage. Defaults to 0.7.
• Shipping (paid by buyer) — the delivery cost that falls to the buyer. Defaults to 0.

What you get:

• Seller receives — the item price, meaning the amount that goes to you before any other costs.
• Buyer Protection fee — calculated from the price, the percentage and the fixed fee.
• Buyer pays total — item price plus Buyer Protection plus shipping.

Example with the default values: price 50, percentage 5, fixed fee 0.7, shipping 0. The seller receives 50.00 €, the Buyer Protection fee is 3.20 €, and the buyer pays 53.20 € in total.

How Buyer Protection works on Vinted

Buyer Protection is the mechanism that makes buyers feel safe: if the order never arrives or does not match the description, they can report a problem and ask for a refund. The cost of that protection is added to the order, and in most cases the buyer covers it.

The fee usually has two parts:

• a percentage part — calculated from the item price,
• a fixed part — added regardless of the price.

The calculator is set to 5% and 0.7 by default, but you can change both values freely. Rates and rules change over time and can depend on the country, category or promotions, so before you list an item check the current pricing in Vinted's help pages and enter the values that apply to your case.

It is worth separating two things: Buyer Protection is not the same as a seller commission. In this calculator the amount for the seller is simply the item price — no extra fees are subtracted from it. If you want to know what is left after other costs, work those out separately.

How to calculate what the buyer pays

Buyers look at the final price, not the item price. That is why it pays to work it out before you publish a listing, so nobody gets a surprise at checkout.

The order is simple:

1. Take the item price.
2. Calculate the Buyer Protection fee: item price × percentage ÷ 100 + fixed fee.
3. Add the shipping the buyer pays.

Step-by-step example with the default values: price 50, percentage 5, fixed fee 0.70, shipping 0.

• 50 × 5 ÷ 100 = 2.50
• 2.50 + 0.70 = 3.20 — that is the Buyer Protection fee
• 50 + 3.20 + 0 = 53.20 — that is what the buyer pays in total

The same method works with any other amounts. If you are after a neat final price, test a few item prices in the calculator and pick the one that suits your listing best.

How to set shipping and the item price

Shipping is often the biggest surprise in the whole calculation, especially on cheap items. At a price of 50 €, the delivery cost can come close to the value of the item, and buyers back out more often when that happens. So enter the realistic amount the buyer will actually pay.

Things worth keeping in mind:

• Check what delivery amount the buyer sees on your listing — that is the figure that goes into the shipping field.
• If you offer free shipping, enter 0 and check whether the item price still works for you.
• On pricier items, shipping is a smaller share of the total, so you have more room to set your price.
• Test two or three item prices and see how the amount the buyer pays changes.

Remember that shipping is not your only cost — there is packaging material, travel to the drop-off point and so on. The calculator shows the item price as the seller amount, so subtract your own expenses yourself.

Calculator limits and what it does not include

The calculator is a rough guide and deliberately focuses on a few key amounts. There are things it simply will not work out — good to know before you base a decision on it.

What it does not take into account:

• Seller commissions and fees — if the platform charges you extra amounts, subtract them from the result yourself.
• Taxes and filings — the calculator does not work out income tax, VAT or other charges (rules vary by country).
• Current rates and pricing — the default values are a starting point, not an official price list. Rates change over time and can depend on the country, category, promotions or your account.
• Individual terms — discounts, seller programmes, returns and claims.
• Your own costs — what you paid for the goods, packaging, transport.
• Currencies other than euros — by default the tool works in euros.

The result is only a rough guide when the values you enter do not match your situation, or when the platform's pricing changes after you list an item. The safest approach is to treat the calculator as a quick estimate for right now and confirm the final numbers against Vinted's current rules and your own records.
