How to Use the Noon FBN Outbound Fee Calculator

The Noon FBN outbound fee calculator calculates the outbound fee and displays it in AED. It has three fields — just fill them in to see the amount.

1. Weight (kg) — enter the shipment weight in kilograms; the default is 1.5 kg.
2. Base fee (AED) — amount charged regardless of weight; default is 9.
3. AED/kg over 1 — rate added to the weight overage; default is 2.2.

As soon as you change a value, one line appears on the screen: "Shipping fee (outbound)." The calculation runs locally in your browser, so you do not need to send anything anywhere or create an account.

The default rates are only a starting point, and you can override them. If you want to calculate in a currency other than AED, enter the base amount and per-kilogram rate in that same currency — the way it works stays the same.

How Weight Affects the Outbound Fee

The outbound fee increases with weight, but not from the first kilogram. The first kilogram is included in the base amount. Only each additional kilogram over 1 kg increases the fee.

The formula is: fee = base amount + (weight − 1) × rate per kg over 1 kg, and the multiplication applies only to the amount over 1 kg.

• Weight of 1 kg or less — the overage is 0, so the fee equals the base amount.
• Weight over 1 kg — 1 kg is subtracted from the weight, the result is multiplied by the per-kilogram rate, and that amount is added to the base amount.
• The 1 kg threshold is fixed and cannot be changed in the tool.

The result is simple: with light packages, the total is almost the same as the base amount, while with heavier packages, a growing share of the fee comes from the weight-based component. That is why you should enter the actual shipment weight, not an approximate value. Weight is the only factor that affects the variable part of the fee — aside from the rates you set yourself.

Base Rate and Additional Kilogram Rate

The formula is built on two amounts that you enter yourself.

• Base amount — the starting part of the fee. It is always added, whether the package weighs under, at, or over 1 kg.
• Rate per kg over 1 kg — applies only to the overage. If a package weighs more than 1 kg, you multiply the rate by the number of kilograms over 1, not by the total weight.

The default values (9 AED and 2.2 AED) are indicative amounts built into the tool so you have a starting point. Your actual rates may differ, as they depend on factors such as the platform's fee schedule, product type, shipment dimensions, and your agreement terms. Before calculating your margin, check the current fee schedule and enter your amounts in both fields.

Example Calculation for a Typical Weight

The table below shows the result with the default settings in the tool: a base amount of 9 AED and a rate of 2.2 AED per kg over 1 kg.

Step by step for the default values: weight 1.5 kg, base amount 9 AED, rate 2.2 AED. The weight overage is 1.5 − 1 = 0.5 kg. Multiply 0.5 × 2.2 = 1.10 AED and add it to the base amount: 9 + 1.10 = 10.10 AED. That is exactly the result the calculator shows for the default values.

At 1 kg, the fee is simply the base amount. Each additional kilogram over 1 kg raises the fee by the full per-kilogram rate. If you enter your own rates, the amounts will change, but the calculation method stays the same.

Limitations: What the Calculator Does Not Include (VAT, Volumetric Weight, Other FBN Fees)

The tool calculates only the outbound fee using the three-value formula. This is intentionally narrow, so treat the result as a reference point, not as a complete account of selling costs on Noon.

• It does not include VAT or other taxes and government fees.
• It does not add other FBN-related fees or platform commissions — the only line in the result is the shipping fee.
• It does not apply discounts, promotions, or individual terms from your contract.
• It does not convert currencies. You enter the amounts manually, and you choose the currency you calculate in.
• It does not convert package dimensions into volumetric weight — it uses exactly the weight you enter.
• It does not know the current fee schedule. The default rates are indicative and can be changed.
• It does not save results or keep a calculation history.

When is the result only indicative? When you do not enter your own current rates, when the actual shipment weight differs from the one you enter, when volumetric weight is used for billing, or when additional shipping charges apply. In those cases, treat the calculator's amount as a quick look at how the fee works and verify it against the platform's current fee schedule and your seller dashboard.
