How to Use the Amazon Affiliate Commission Calculator

The tool answers one question: how much you can realistically earn from affiliate link commissions in a given month. Just fill in four fields, and the result appears immediately below them.

  • Clicks / mo. — how many times per month someone reaches the store through your link. Default: 5,000.
  • Conversion % — what percentage of those clicks end in an order. Default: 6.
  • Average order value (AOV) — the average cost of one order, in the tool's currency. Default: 35.
  • Commission % — the rate you receive from the order value. Default: 3. This field is editable, so you can enter your own rate.

You will see three values: the number of orders per month, monthly commission, and yearly amount. With the default settings, that is 300 orders, $315.00 in commission per month, and $3,780.00 per year. Check it yourself: 5,000 × 6 ÷ 100 = 300 orders, and 300 × 35 × 3 ÷ 100 = $315.00.

Calculations run on your device. The tool does not send or save the numbers you enter, and it does not load any files, so you can test different scenarios freely.

How to Choose Clicks and Conversion Rate for Your Forecast

Clicks and conversion have the biggest effect on order count. You can calculate orders with a simple formula: orders = clicks × conversion % ÷ 100. Increasing either factor raises the result proportionally.

Where can you get clicks? Ideally from your own affiliate link stats — the number of visits in a given month. If you are just starting, treat this field as an assumption: how many people per month might go from your content to the store.

Conversion is the percentage of clicks that become an order. Do not guess it. Check what it has been over recent weeks and enter a value close to the real one. If you do not have data yet, test several variants.

Clicks / mo.Conversion %Orders / mo.
2,000480
5,0006300
10,0006600
10,0008800

Notice the difference between the first and last row: clicks alone are not everything; quality matters. Traffic well matched to the offer usually converts better than large, random traffic.

How to Set AOV and Amazon Commission Rate

AOV, or average order value, describes how much one person spends on average in a single order. Enter this value in US dollars (the tool's default currency). If you do not know your average, estimate it by dividing the total value of orders by their number in the chosen period.

The commission rate is the percentage of the order value that goes to you. The default is 3 percent, but that is only a starting point — rates vary between programs and product categories. Check the current rate schedule and enter your value in the 'Commission %' field.

Calculate monthly commission like this: orders × AOV × rate % ÷ 100. With the default settings: 300 × 35 × 3 ÷ 100 = $315.00. Changing the rate works proportionally:

RateMonthly Commission (300 Orders, AOV 35)
3%$315.00
4%$420.00
5%$525.00

AOV works the same way. Raising average order value from 35 to 50 at a 3 percent rate gives 300 × 50 × 3 ÷ 100 = $450.00 per month. Enter your own numbers and see what happens to the result.

Amounts are shown in US dollars. Want to calculate in another currency? Enter AOV in that currency and keep the percentage rate as a percentage — the result will appear in that currency.

How to Interpret Monthly and Yearly Commission

Monthly commission tells you roughly how much you will earn in an average month under the assumptions you entered. Yearly commission is the same value multiplied by 12 — useful when you want to judge whether a direction is worth growing. With the default settings: $315.00 per month and $3,780.00 per year.

Treat both results as a model, not a promise. You can change each assumption and immediately see how the whole picture changes. That is the simplest way to check which field affects your result most.

  • conversion from 6 to 8 percent at 5,000 clicks gives 400 orders instead of 300,
  • rate from 3 to 4 percent with the same orders and AOV 35 raises commission from $315.00 to $420.00 per month,
  • raising AOV from 35 to 40 gives 300 × 40 × 3 ÷ 100 = $360.00 per month.

Calculate three variants: conservative, realistic, and ambitious. Then instead of one number you see a range where your revenue is likely to fall.

Limitations and What the Tool Does Not Calculate (Returns, Categories, Attribution, Costs)

The calculator relies only on the numbers you enter. That is both its strength and its limit — it knows nothing about what happens later or about your affiliate program's terms.

  • Returns and canceled orders. The tool counts orders as orders. If some customers return items or cancel, the real commission will be lower.
  • Categories and different rates. One rate cannot describe a store where products in different categories have different percentages. In that case, calculate separate scenarios or use an average rate.
  • Attribution and time. Not every purchase happens immediately after a click, and assigning a sale to a specific link follows its own rules. The calculator assumes a simple click-to-order conversion in the same period.
  • Costs. Running a site, SEO, ads, tools, subscriptions — all of that stays outside the calculation. The tool shows commission revenue, not profit.
  • Taxes and fees. It does not account for tax liabilities, platform fees, or currency conversions.
  • Current rates and schedules. It does not pull them from any source. You enter the rate yourself, so before planning, check your program's current rate schedule.

Treat the result as an approximate starting point for your own calculations, not as a settlement. The default values are an example, not a forecast for a specific account.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you calculate Amazon affiliate commission?

Multiply the number of orders by the average order value and by the commission rate, then divide by 100. To get orders, multiply clicks by conversion and divide by 100. The calculator does both steps for you.

How much will I earn with 5,000 clicks per month?

With the default settings — 6 percent conversion, AOV 35, and a 3 percent rate — you get 300 orders, $315.00 in monthly commission, and $3,780.00 per year. This is only an example: change conversion, AOV, or rate and the result changes immediately.

Where can I get the AOV value for the calculator?

Divide the total value of orders from a chosen period by their number. If you do not have that data, use a value typical for the products you recommend and test several variants.

What commission rate should I enter in the calculator?

The one that actually applies in your program — rates depend on category and change over time. You can enter any value in the 'Commission %' field, so before planning, check the current rate schedule.

Does the calculator account for returns and taxes?

No. The tool calculates commission from orders and does not subtract returns, cancellations, business costs, or taxes. To estimate real profit, subtract those items from the amount shown.

Can I calculate in a currency other than US dollars?

Yes. Amounts are shown in US dollars by default, but you can enter AOV in your chosen currency and keep the commission rate as a percentage — the result will be expressed in that currency.

Amazon commission rates are approximate and depend on category and current program terms — before making decisions, check the official Amazon Associates rate schedule.
