What Is Included in the eBay FVF Basis (Price and Shipping)

The final value fee is not calculated on the item price alone. The basis is the full transaction value as eBay sees it, and in this calculator it is made up of two parts:

Price - the amount the buyer pays for the item.
Shipping paid by buyer - the amount the buyer pays for delivery.

We write this simply:

basis = price + shipping paid by buyer

This distinction matters. If the buyer pays $15 for shipping, that amount is also included in the basis, and the fee is charged on it too. Entering only the price without shipping will understate the fee and overstate your payout.

At the same time, remember that the shipping cost you pay as the seller is not part of the basis - it is your separate expense. The tool does not subtract it.
