Other tools you may find usefulHow to Use the WFS Calculator
The Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) fee calculator estimates the fulfillment fee for a single package. Calculations run in your browser—nothing is sent to a server and you do not need to save anything.
- Enter the package weight in kilograms. The default is 1.2 kg—change it to the weight of your product in its shipping packaging.
- Set the Base fee. The default is $3.80. This is an estimated rate that you can override with your own value.
- Set the rate for each kilogram over 1 kg. The default is $0.65. The 1 kg threshold is fixed—the surcharge for excess weight is calculated from it.
- Read the result. You will see one line item: WFS fee, the WFS fee in US dollars.
The formula is simple: WFS fee = base fee + max(0, weight - 1) x rate per kilogram over 1 kg. For the default values, it looks like this: 1.2 kg - 1 kg = 0.2 kg, then 0.2 x $0.65 = $0.13, and finally $3.80 + $0.13 = $3.93. That is the result the tool will show.
How to Set the Base Fee and $/kg Over 1 kg
The rate fields are editable because fulfillment pricing changes over time and depends on category, dimensions, and negotiated terms. The default $3.80 and $0.65 are examples only, entered into the tool—they are not fixed pricing. Before calculating your costs, check the current WFS pricing and your seller dashboard.
- Base fee is the amount you pay for the first part of the weight, meaning the first kilogram.
- Rate per kilogram over 1 kg is a surcharge calculated on the excess above the first kilogram. Do not multiply it by the entire weight—only by the amount over 1 kg.
- Your rates are entered manually. It is best to take them from the pricing that applies to you or from a billing invoice.
If you enter your own rates, you can calculate in any currency—as long as the base fee and the per-kilogram rate are in the same currency. The tool does not convert currencies, so do not mix amounts in different currencies in one calculation.
Also check whether your pricing depends on weight brackets. If so, calculate a few variants: for the lower and upper limits of the bracket your package falls into.
Converting kg to lb and Dimensional Weight in WFS
Many fulfillment price lists, including those published for US sellers, quote weights in pounds, while you most often know the weight in kilograms. It helps to compare the two quickly.
1 kg is about 2.2046 pounds. To convert kilograms to pounds, multiply the weight in kilograms by 2.2046. For example, 1.2 kg is about 2.65 pounds. To go the other way, divide the weight in pounds by 2.2046 to get kilograms. Write down the result and compare it with the weight bracket in the pricing that applies to you.
The second thing is dimensional weight, also called volumetric weight. Carriers compare the actual weight of a package with the weight based on its dimensions: length x width x height divided by a divisor. The divisor depends on the carrier, unit of measure, and service terms, so it cannot be given once and for all—check the current WFS rules. Billing usually uses the greater of the two values: actual or dimensional weight.
In the calculator, you enter one number: weight in kilograms. If you know billing will use dimensional weight, enter that larger value. The 1 kg threshold in the tool is fixed and applies only to the number you enter.
Other Walmart Marketplace and WFS Fees Beyond Fulfillment
The WFS fee is only one part of the cost of selling on Walmart Marketplace. The calculator only computes the fulfillment fee using the formula above, so add the other items to get the full picture.
- Sales commission — a percentage or amount charged per order, depending on the product category.
- Storage fees — for the space your goods occupy in the warehouse, often billed monthly and depending on the season.
- Inbound delivery fees — the cost of transporting, preparing, and receiving your shipment at the warehouse.
- Return, removal, and disposal fees — when goods come back to you or are removed from the warehouse.
- Additional handling fees — for example, for oversized, fragile, or special-packaging products, or for order consolidation.
- Taxes, duties, and accounting costs — depending on jurisdiction and your situation.
- Seller-side fees — subscription or account fees, if they apply to your selling plan.
The names, scope, and amounts of these fees change with the platform's terms. Before calculating your margin, check the current pricing and seller agreement for your account.
Tool Limitations and What It Does Not Calculate
The tool calculates one line item: the WFS fee using the formula based on the base fee and the surcharge for kilograms over 1 kg. Anything outside that formula is not included in the result.
- It does not include storage, inbound delivery, return, removal, or disposal fees.
- It does not include sales commission or other fees charged by the platform.
- It does not include taxes, duties, accounting costs, or exchange-rate differences.
- It does not convert currencies—you calculate in the currency in which you enter the rates.
- It does not know current pricing or your individual, negotiated terms. The default rates are estimates and you can change them.
- It does not determine which weight the carrier will bill—actual or dimensional. You enter one value, so it is up to you to choose which one to use.
- It does not calculate multiple products at once or an entire order cart—it is a single-line calculator.
Treat the result as a starting point for further calculation. It is an estimate, especially when you use the default rates, have not checked current pricing, or do not yet know what billable weight the platform will use for your product. The safest approach: enter your own rates from the pricing and compare the result with actual charges from your seller dashboard.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate the WFS fee for a 1.2 kg package?
With the default rates, you calculate it this way: subtract 1 kg from 1.2 kg, leaving 0.2 kg of excess. Multiply 0.2 by $0.65 and add it to $3.80—the result is $3.93. That is the result the calculator will show with the default values.
How do I convert kilograms to pounds for WFS pricing?
Multiply the weight in kilograms by 2.2046 to get the approximate weight in pounds. For example, 1.2 kg is about 2.65 pounds. To go the other way, divide pounds by 2.2046 to get back to kilograms.
Are the calculator's rates official Walmart rates?
No. The $3.80 base fee and the $0.65 per kilogram over 1 kg rate are example values entered into the tool, and you can change them freely. Before pricing your product, check current WFS pricing.
Can I enter rates in euros or another currency?
Yes. Just enter both rates in the same currency—the calculator does not convert currencies, so do not mix amounts in different currencies in one calculation. The tool's default amounts are in US dollars because that is the platform's currency.
What is the difference between actual weight and dimensional weight in WFS?
Actual weight is the package's weight on a scale. Dimensional weight comes from the package dimensions: length x width x height divided by a divisor that depends on the carrier and terms. Billing usually uses the greater of these values, so enter the one most likely to be used for billing into the calculator.
Does the calculator include storage, sales commission, and taxes?
No, the tool only calculates the fulfillment fee using the formula based on the base fee and the surcharge for kilograms over 1 kg. Storage fees, sales commission, inbound delivery fees, returns, taxes, and duties must be added separately based on the platform's current pricing.
