Other tools you may find usefulHow to Use the Kaspi Profit Calculator
The Kaspi profit calculator is a simple tool: enter three details about your listing and you immediately see the commission amount and profit. Enter amounts in the platform currency, Kazakhstani tenge (₸, KZT).
- Price (KZT) - the price at which you sell the product. Default: 25,000 ₸.
- Commission % - the rate the platform charges. Default: 9.9, but you can change it to the value from your pricing plan.
- Cost of goods - what the product you sell costs you. Default: 15,000 ₸.
- Read the results: Commission (amount) and Profit.
The tool calculates: commission = price × (commission % ÷ 100), and profit = price × (1 - commission % ÷ 100) - cost of goods. More simply: profit = price - commission amount - cost of goods.
Example using the default values: 25,000 ₸ × 9.9% = 2,475.00 ₸ commission, and 25,000 ₸ - 2,475.00 ₸ - 15,000 ₸ = 7,525.00 ₸ profit.
Although the default amounts are in tenge, you can calculate in any currency when you enter your own rates. The only important thing is that the price, commission, and cost of goods are all in the same currency.
What Costs to Include in Profit
The calculator accounts for three items: selling price, percentage commission, and cost of goods. That is a good starting point, but not the full picture. To learn your real profit, subtract the remaining costs from the result - preferably calculated per unit sold.
| Cost | Included in the calculator result? |
|---|---|
| Cost of goods | Yes, you enter it in the Cost of goods field |
| Platform commission | Yes, you enter your own percentage rate |
| Shipping and logistics | No, subtract manually |
| Packaging and materials | No, subtract manually |
| Advertising and promotion | No, subtract manually |
| Returns and claims | No, subtract manually |
| Taxes and accounting | No, subtract manually |
| Fixed costs, such as subscriptions or warehousing | No, subtract manually |
A practical approach: calculate profit in the calculator, then subtract the total of the other costs that apply to one unit. If little remains after that, it is worth reviewing the offer again - with a higher price or a cheaper product.
It helps to record this calculation for a few of your best-selling products. That makes it easier to see which items consume the most profit and where you should make changes.
Kaspi Commission and Product Categories
Commission is usually the largest single item in a seller's calculation. On marketplace platforms, the rate can vary by product category and may depend on individual agreements. That is why the calculator does not have one fixed rate - it only has a default value of 9.9, which you can change at any time.
What to do in practice:
- Check the platform's current pricing and your seller agreement.
- Find the rate for the category you sell in.
- Enter it in the Commission % field.
If you sell in several categories, calculate each one separately - a different rate gives a different profit, even with the same price and cost of goods. It is also worth checking in the pricing plan what amount the commission is charged on and whether additional fees apply to you.
A change of a few percentage points strongly affects the result, especially at a low margin. For example, at the default price and cost of goods, a few extra percentage points of commission can take a meaningful bite out of profit.
We do not list specific Kaspi rates here - they vary by category and change over time, so the most reliable source is the platform's current pricing and your agreement.
Margin vs. Net Profit
The profit from the calculator is the amount left after subtracting commission and cost of goods. Margin is that same profit expressed as a percentage: margin = profit ÷ price × 100%.
For the default values: 7,525.00 ₸ ÷ 25,000 ₸ × 100% = about 30%. Is that a lot or a little? It depends on the category and on what additional costs you still have to pay.
In practice, look at two numbers at once. A high percentage margin on a cheap product can still produce a very small profit amount that will not cover fixed costs or returns. A moderate margin on a more expensive product produces profit that can more easily absorb packaging, advertising, or shipping.
Also remember the difference between profit and net profit. The calculator shows profit after commission and cost of goods. Net profit - what actually remains in your business - is what is left after subtracting all other costs: logistics, packaging, advertising, returns, additional fees, and taxes.
The same logic - margin calculated from the selling price - also works on other platforms, such as Amazon, Etsy, eBay, or Shopify. The rates and costs change, not the calculation principle.
Limitations and What the Tool Does Not Calculate
The calculator is for quick math based on basic data. Treat the result as an estimate, because the tool by nature does not include:
- fees other than percentage commission, such as payment fees, listing promotions, subscriptions, or add-on services,
- logistics, shipping, packaging, and storage costs,
- advertising and promotion costs,
- returns, claims, and failed transactions,
- taxes, customs duties, and accounting costs,
- fixed business operating costs,
- current exchange rates and currency conversions,
- discounts, coupons, and loyalty programs,
- individual negotiated rates - you enter those yourself in the commission field.
The tool also does not check the platform's current pricing and does not save your calculations. You calculate everything live, and the calculations run locally in your browser - your data is not sent to a server.
When is the result most approximate? When the margin is low and additional costs are high. Then even one omitted item, such as shipping or a return, can wipe out the entire profit. The disclaimer under the calculator reminds you that rates are estimates, and it is worth checking current pricing with every calculation.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate profit on Kaspi?
Enter the price, commission rate, and cost of goods in the calculator. The tool subtracts the commission amount and cost of goods from the price and shows profit. For the default values, the result is 2,475.00 ₸ commission and 7,525.00 ₸ profit.
Does the calculator include shipping and taxes?
No. The calculator uses percentage commission and cost of goods, and the result shows profit at that level. Subtract shipping, packaging, advertising, returns, and taxes from the result yourself to learn your real profit.
What commission should I enter in the calculator?
Use the rate that applies to your category and your terms. The tool has 9.9 entered by default, but that is only a starting value - check the platform's current pricing and enter your own rate.
What currency does the Kaspi profit calculator use?
By default, amounts are in tenge (₸, KZT), the platform currency. If you enter your own rates and prices, you can calculate in any currency - just make sure all three values are in the same currency.
What is the profit at a price of 25,000 ₸ and a cost of goods of 15,000 ₸?
At a 9.9% commission, the commission amount is 2,475.00 ₸ and profit is 7,525.00 ₸. This is the result for the default values entered in the calculator.
What is the difference between margin and profit?
Profit is a specific amount in currency, while margin is that same profit expressed as a percentage of price: margin = profit ÷ price × 100%. With the default values, a profit of 7,525.00 ₸ gives a margin of about 30%.
