Other tools you may find usefulSalary to Hourly Rate Converter - gross and net in 2025
This tool converts salary from any period (monthly, weekly, yearly) intohourly rate. Just enter the amount, select the period and specify the number ofhours per week. Additionally, you can include paid time off (PTO), unpaid absences, and overtime to get a realistic gross or net "hourly" salary.
What the converter counts
- Monthly/weekly/yearly → hourly– with the option of selecting gross or net (after enabling tax parameters).
- Flexible working hours– set your own number of hours per week (e.g. 20, 40, 48).
- Taking into account PTO and absences- the converter can calculate the "real" effective hourly wage.
- Overtime– add annual/monthly overtime and its bonus to see the impact on your hourly wage.
- Comparisons– several scenarios side by side (e.g. 40 h/week vs. 35 h/week; 12× vs. 12×+13.).
Formulas and theory
Standard conversion rate (without overtime and absenteeism)
Hours_yearly = Hours_weekly × 52 Hourly_gross_rate = Annual_gross_salary / Hours_yearly Net_hourly_rate = Net_annual_salary / Yearly_hours
If you start with a monthly amount, first calculate:
Annual_salary = Monthly_salary × 12 (+ 13th salary, if applicable)
PTO and absence treatment
Effective_hours per year = (Hours_weekly × 52) − Hours_PTO − Absence_hours Effective_hour_rate = Annual_salary / Effective_hours_annual
If the monthly salary is fixed and PTO is paid, "on paper" the hourly rate increases with fewer actual hours worked.
Overtime (average variant)
Overtime_remuneration = Base_hour_rate × Number_of_overtime × (1 + allowance) New_annual = Annual_Salary + Overtime_Salary Overtime_hours_rate = New_annual / (Annual_hours + Overtime_number)
Which entry period should I choose?
If you have a fixed salary – selectmonthly. If salary fluctuates - useper weekorper year(total). In freelancing, it often works best to quoteper year+ average hourly workload.
How to use – step by step
Step 1 – enter the amount and period
Select: monthly / weekly / annually. Enter the gross amount or turn on net mode if you want the result after deductions.
Step 2 – set hours/week
Most often 40 h/week. You can enter a different number, e.g. 35 h or 20 h for part-time work.
Step 3 - Include PTO/Absences
Enter the number of paid days (PTO) and any unpaid leave to calculate your effective hourly wage.
Step 4 – add overtime (optional)
Enter your annual overtime and bonus (e.g. 50% = 1.5, 100% = 2.0) to see the full impact on your average pay.
Examples
Example A – PLN 7,000 per month, 40 h/week
- Annual: 7,000 × 12 =84,000
- Hours per year: 40 × 52 =2080
- Hourly rate ≈ 84,000 / 2,080 =40.38
Example B – 2,200 per week, 35 h/week
- Annual: 2,200 × 52 =114,400
- Hours per year: 35 × 52 =1,820
- Hourly rate ≈ 114,400 / 1,820 =62.86
Example C – 120,000 per year, 20 h/week
- Hours per year: 20 × 52 =1,040
- Hourly rate = 120,000 / 1,040 =115.38
Example D – monthly PLN 6,500, 40 h/week, PTO 26 days
- Assume 8 h/day → 26 × 8 =208h PTO (paid)
- Effective hours = 2,080 − 208 =1,872
- Annual: 6,500 × 12 =78,000
- Effective hourly ≈ 78,000 / 1,872 =41.67
Example E – overtime 120 h/year with a bonus of 50%
- Base rate: PLN 40/h (from example A)
- Overtime = 40 × 120 × 1.5 =7,200
- New annual = 84,000 + 7,200 =91,200
- New hours = 2,080 + 120 =2,200
- New hourly ≈ 91,200 / 2,200 =41.45
Example F – net mode
After turning on the tax parameters, the calculator will convert the amount on hand into net hourly wages, similarly to the examples above.
Support tables
| Entry period | Annual formula | Example | Attention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | m × 12 | 7,000 × 12 = 84,000 | Add 13th salary if applicable |
| Weekly | in × 52 | 2,200 × 52 = 114,400 | Useful for variable graphics |
| Annually | — | 120,000 | Enter directly if you already know the annual |
| Hours per year | h/week × 52 | 40 × 52 = 2,080 | Correct for PTO and absences |
Most common form fields
Input data
- Sum: monthly / weekly / annually
- Hours per week: e.g. 40, 35, 20
- Gross/net mode: after enabling tax parameters
Absences
- PTO (days or hours)
- Unpaid holidays
- Holidays (when unpaid with an hourly model)
Overtime
- Number of overtime hours per year
- Add-on (1.5; 2.0; other)
Practical tips
- Compare scenarios: 40 h/week vs. 35 h/week will show the impact of shortening the working hours on the hourly wage.
- Set a consistent period: When talking to HR, use the same basis (monthly → hourly) on both sides.
- Freelancers: count real production hours (without administration) - a fairer minimum wage will result.
- Overtime: include addition; the average hourly wage may increase less than you think.
FAQ
Does the converter work for net?
Yes. After enabling tax parameters and contributions, you can also convert amounts "on hand".
How many hours per year should I take?
Standard 52 weeks per year. For 40 h/week this gives 2,080 h. Adjust if you include paid time off or absences.
What about shift work?
Enter average hours/week for your schedule; the rest will work the same.
Do you include a 13th salary?
Yes – in the monthly variant, add the 13th salary (e.g. +1× salary) to the annual base.
How to add overtime?
Enter the annual number of overtime hours and select the allowance (e.g. 50% = 1.5). The calculator will add the payment and calculate the new hourly rate.
