Net salary calculator - precise salary calculation from gross to net

The net salary calculator is an advanced online financial tool, created for employees, employers and HR and payroll specialists in Poland. It allows for immediate and extremely accurate conversion of the gross remuneration amount into the net amount (i.e. "in-hand" payment). The tool takes into account current tax regulations, ZUS contribution rates, health insurance contributions, as well as tax-deductible costs and the tax-free amount. Thanks to this, you will receive a complete and transparent breakdown of all deductions from your salary, which will make it easier to plan your budget and conduct salary negotiations during job interviews or when applying for a raise.

Differences between gross and net pay and the structure of contributions in Poland

For many people, the difference between gross and net pay can be confusing. The gross amount is the total remuneration specified in the contract, from which the employer is obliged to pay appropriate public law levies. Only after deducting all mandatory social security contributions and income tax advances is the net amount that the employee receives in his or her bank account. It is worth remembering that the total cost of employing an employee on the employer's side is even higher than the gross amount, because the employer also pays an additional part of pension, disability and accident insurance contributions from its own funds.

Contributions paid from the employee's salary are divided into social insurance, which include retirement, disability and sickness contributions (obligatory in the case of an employment contract). Another element is the health insurance contribution, which finances the public health service and is not tax deductible. The last key element is the advance payment of personal income tax (PIT), calculated after taking into account the costs of obtaining income and a possible PIT-2 declaration, i.e. the amount reducing the tax. Our calculator precisely breaks down each of these items, presenting a clear chart and table.

How does the salary calculator work and what forms of employment does it support?

The tool supports the three most popular forms of employment in Poland: employment contract, mandate contract and contract for specific work. The user selects the type of contract, enters the gross amount and selects additional parameters, such as participation in Employee Capital Plans (PPK), work at or outside the place of residence, as well as age below twenty-six (PIT exemption for young people). In the case of civil law contracts (contracts of mandate), the calculator allows you to determine whether this is the only source of income and whether social contributions and voluntary sickness insurance should be charged.

In the case of a contract for specific work, the calculator takes into account specific costs of obtaining revenues, which may amount to twenty percent or as much as fifty percent in the case of using copyrights. After clicking the calculation button, the system immediately generates a detailed summary, showing not only the net salary, but also the full cost of the employer, which is extremely valuable information for entrepreneurs planning the payroll budget in their company.

Practical use of the salary calculator in financial planning and recruitment

The net salary calculator is an excellent tool supporting everyday financial decisions. Job seekers can quickly verify job offers, where the rates are often given in gross amounts, and assess their real purchase value. Entrepreneurs can, in turn, estimate how changing employee salaries will affect the overall costs of running a business. Moreover, the calculator is irreplaceable at the end of the year when analyzing the impact of tax thresholds (twelve percent and thirty-two percent) on the amount of monthly net income.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an employment contract and a mandate contract in terms of contributions?

The employment contract guarantees full contributions (pension, disability, sickness, health insurance). In the case of a mandate contract, social contributions depend on whether this is the employee's only entitlement to insurance, and sickness insurance is voluntary.

Who can benefit from the "No PIT for young people" relief?

Persons who are under 26 years of age and earn income from work (employment relationship, cooperative employment relationship) or from mandate contracts are exempt from income tax up to the limit of PLN 85,528 per year.

What are proprietary costs of obtaining revenue (50% BUY)?

This is a preferential tax-deductible cost rate used, among others, from creators, programmers and journalists. It allows for a significant reduction in the tax base, which results in higher net remuneration.

Does participation in PPK affect my net remuneration?

Yes, participation in Employee Capital Plans involves deducting a basic contribution (usually 2% of gross remuneration) from the employee's salary, which slightly reduces the net payout, but builds capital for the future.

What is the tax reducing amount and PIT-2 declaration?

This is the amount resulting from the tax-free allowance (PLN 30,000 per year). By submitting the PIT-2 form, the employee authorizes the payer to reduce the monthly tax advance by PLN 300, which increases the net monthly salary.
