This calculator allows you to easily calculate the amount of dividend from your shares. Just enter data such as the number of shares, purchase price, dividend per share (DPS) or dividend yield percentage, payment frequency and tax rate. The tool will automatically calculate the gross and net amount, as well as a forecast of future income.
Formulas and theory
A dividend is a portion of a company's profit paid to shareholders. Most often, it is expressed asDPS(Dividend Per Share) - i.e. the amount of dividend per share - or asdividend yield (Dividend Yield), which shows the percentage ratio of the dividend to the share price.
Formulas:
- DPS = (Net profit × Payout ratio) / Number of shares
- Dividend Yield (%) = (DPS / Share price) × 100
- Gross annual dividend = DPS × Number of shares
- Net dividend = Gross dividend × (1 - Tax / 100)
In the calculator you can choose the frequency of payments: annual, semi-annual, quarterly or monthly. The program will automatically calculate the payout value for the selected mode.
Examples
Example 1 – DPS mode
You have 200 shares of the company, each worth PLN 120. The dividend is PLN 5 per share per year. Tax rate 19%, quarterly payments.
Results:
- Gross annual dividend: 200 × PLN 5 = PLN 1,000
- Net dividend: 1,000 × (1 - 0.19) = PLN 810
- Quarterly payment: PLN 202.50 net
Example 2 – Yield mode
The investor has 150 shares of PLN 80 each, yield 4%, tax 19%, annual payments.
- Gross annual dividend: 150 × 80 × 0.04 = PLN 480
- Net annual dividend: 480 × 0.81 = PLN 388.80
