Benefit rates in two variants
Variant 100 and 70
Maternity calculated at 100% of the basis. Parental benefit calculated at 70% of the base. Simple monthly settlement. This works well when you want higher benefits in the first period and smaller benefits in the later period.
Variant 81.5
The entire package calculated at a fixed rate of 81.5% of the base. Convenient when you want an equal monthly amount throughout the entire period of leave. In the calculator, we convert both options based on the same basis.
How do we calculate the extension of work time during parental leave
If you work part-time during parental leave, the leave is extended. The calculator takes a simple time ratio and limits the length to the maximum limit.
input: pBase in weeks and workFrac in the range 0.0 to 0.9 pExtended = min(limit, pBase / (1.0 - workFrac)) Example: pBase = 41 weeks, 50% full time job pExtended = 41 / (1 - 0.5) = 82 weeks the limit depends on the number of children. For 1 child we use a limit of 82 weeks. For 2 or more we use a limit of 86 weeks.
Sharing parental leave between two parents
Each parent has 9 weeks of non-transferable share. In practice, this means a minimum of 9 weeks for the other parent. If the entered division exceeds the base, the calculator scales it proportionally. If the sum is lower than the base, we indicate the unused part.
Two complete simulations. Step by step
Example 1. One child, no hospitalization, no work during, variant 100 and 70
Assumptions: number of children = 1 Pro-life = no maternity leave before delivery = 2 weeks hospitalization = none parental: parent A 32 weeks, parent B 9 weeks work in progress = 0% base = PLN 6,000 variant = 100 and 70 Results: total maternity leave = 20 weeks maternity leave after giving birth = 18 weeks parental base = 41 weeks parental after extension = 41 weeks rates: maternity 100% = PLN 6,000, parental 70% = PLN 4,200 timeline: 2 weeks before giving birth at 100%, 18 weeks after giving birth at 100%, then 41 weeks of parental leave at 70%
Example 2. Two children, hospitalization category 1 for 6 weeks, work 40% during parental leave, variant 81.5
Assumptions: number of children = 2 Pro-life = yes maternity leave before delivery = 0 weeks hospitalization category 1 = 6 weeks parental: no manual division, the calculator assumes a minimum of 9 weeks for the second parent work in progress = 40% base = PLN 7,500 variant = 81.5 Results: total maternity leave = 31 weeks supplementary maternity leave = 6 weeks parental base with For Life = 67 weeks parental after extension = min(86, 67 / (1 - 0.4)) = 86 weeks monthly rate for the entire package = 81.5% of PLN 7,500, i.e. PLN 6,112.50 timeline: 31 weeks of maternity leave, 6 weeks of supplementary maternity leave, then 86 weeks of parental leave at 81.5%
How long is maternity and parental leave - benefit rates
After the birth of one child, you are entitled to20 weeks of maternity leave(for twins 31, for triplets 33) and41 weeks of parental leave(43 in the case of multiple births), of which9 weeks are reserved exclusively for the other parent- these cannot be transferred to the mother. In addition, the father is entitled to 2 weeks of paternity leave (until the child is 12 months old).
| Benefit variant | Maternity | Parental |
|---|---|---|
| Application "in advance" within 21 days of delivery | 81.5% | 81.5% (9 weeks for the father always 70%) |
| Submitted applications separately | 100% | 70% |
Which variant is profitable? The total amounts are very similar - the 81.5% variant gives more equal payments every month, the 100%+70% variant gives higher money at the beginning. The calculator will calculate both scenarios from your gross salary and will show the exact end dates of each stage after entering the date of delivery. The basis for the benefit is the average salary for 12 months - check it in thegross-net calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to provide the date of birth and start
No. If you leave the dates blank, the calculator will return weeks without a specific date axis. Enter dates to generate accurate from and to ranges.
What if the sum of weeks for parents exceeds the base
The calculator scales the division proportionally to the base. Thanks to this, the division maintains proportions, but remains within the limits.
Why do I see the remainder unused
This is a signal that you still have weeks to allocate. You can increase the number of weeks for one parent or leave a reserve.
Does work always extend holidays in the same proportion
In the calculator, we assume a simple proportional model with a limit. In practice, the use of work while parenting requires an agreement with the employer and compliance with the regulations.
Implementation checklist
- Determine the number of children, possible maternity leave before delivery and hospitalization.
- Select a benefit option. Compare 100 and 70 with the 81.5 variant.
- Enter the basis. This is the only factor that affects the monthly amount in the table.
- Split parenting between parents with a minimum of 9 weeks for each.
- If you plan to work during parental time, enter the percentage of full-time work and view the new week limit.
- Generate a timeline with dates to plan returns to work and replacements.

Final notes and safety
Data is for educational purposes only. Details of the working mode during parental leave, aggregation of periods and documents required for payment of benefits depend on the regulations and interpretation in your organization. Before making a decision, consult the plan with your human resources department or lawyer. In case of discrepancies, priority will be given to current regulations and institutional announcements.
Summary
The calculator gives you a quick insight into the weeks, timeline and monthly amounts of your maternity and parental benefits. Thanks to simple parameters, you can check the impact of the For Life option, hospitalization and part-time work. Add dates to build a realistic schedule and plan for splitting time off between parents without risking going over your limits.
