The Gallup Test (official name:CliftonStrengths) is one of the most famous and valued personal and professional development tools in the world. It was developed by American psychologist Donald Clifton in cooperation with the Gallup Institute. The philosophy behind the test is based on a simple yet revolutionary premise: instead of spending a lot of energy improving your weaknesses to achieve mediocrity, it is much more effective to identify and develop your natural talents (strengths) to achieve mastery. The Gallup study diagnoses patterns of thinking, feeling and behavior, classifying them into a set of 34 talents divided into 4 key domains.
Our guide and description of the Gallup test presents the structure of the study, explains the 34 talents and suggests how to interpret the CliftonStrengths results in order to effectively plan a career path and improve communication in the team.
Four talent domains according to Gallup
Gallup divided 34 talents into four main areas that describe how we deal with tasks, people and information:
- Executing:Talents in this group are responsible for carrying out tasks, organizing work and getting things done. Examples are: Arranger, Discipline, and Restorative.
- Influencing:Talents that help you take charge, speak on behalf of the group, and persuade others. Examples: Command, Woo, Self-Assurance.
- Relationship Building:Talents responsible for creating strong interpersonal bonds, empathy and group bonding. Examples: Closeness (Relator), Empathy, Compatibility (Harmony).
- Strategic Thinking:Talents for analyzing information, planning for the future, and drawing conclusions. Examples: Analytical, Visionary (Futuristic), Intellect.

| Charm (Woo) | Influence | Easily establishes contacts with new people, can charm the interlocutor and break the ice. | Salesman, PR Manager, Recruiter. |
| Empathy | Building relationships | Empathizes with other people's emotions, can sense the atmosphere in the team and supports others. | Mediator, HR Business Partner, Psychologist. |
| Visionary (Futuristic) | Strategic thinking | Sees the future in bright colors, creates visions of development and can inspire others with them. | Creative Director, Business Strategist, Startup Founder. |
How to interpret the study results (Top 5)?
After completing the test (consisting of 177 questions with pairs of statements), you receive a report with your profile. The most important is the so-called **big five (Top 5)** – these are your dominant talents that determine your everyday behavior. Gallup defines talent as a natural pattern that becomes a strength only when we combine it with knowledge and practice (Talent × Investment = Strength).
