How the calculator works
The calculator estimates calories based on exercise intensity. You can choose one of two modes:
- Swimming style- you can choose e.g. crawl, breaststroke, backstroke or dolphin. Each style has a certain level of intensity.
- Pace– enter how many minutes and seconds it takes you to swim 100 m. The faster you are, the more calories you will burn.
You also enter your body weight and swimming time. The result shows the total number of calories and average burning per minute.
Swimming Styles and Calorie Burn
Each style differs in energy requirements. The calculator takes these differences into account:

Swimming pace and burning
If you enter your pace instead of the style, the calculator will adjust the intensity. Examples:

Examples of use
Example 1: Medium crawl, 70 kg, 1 hour
You choose the medium crawl style. The result is approximately 560 kcal per hour. That's about as much as a margherita pizza.
Example 2: Frog, 80 kg, 45 minutes
You weigh 80 kg and swim breaststroke for 45 minutes. You will burn approximately 620 kcal, which is the equivalent of a large burger with fries.
Example 3: Pace 1:45/100 m, 90 kg, 30 minutes
You swim fast, 1:45 per 100 m. In half an hour, with a weight of 90 kg, you will burn about 450 kcal - that's as much as two chocolate bars.
Example 4: Dolphin, 65 kg, 20 minutes
Short, intense exercise. 20 minutes of dolphin weighing 65 kg is almost 300 kcal, which is as much as a portion of spaghetti.

Does the result depend on gender and age?
The calculator is based on weight and intensity. Gender and age indirectly affect fitness and pace, but are not taken into account separately.

Yes, if you measure them regularly (e.g. with a watch). Then the result is more suited to your intensity.
What if I mix styles in one session?
It is best to estimate the dominant style or provide an average pace. The result will be average, but still helpful.
Does the length of the pool matter?
A shorter pool means more turns and slightly higher fuel consumption. The calculator uses average values - the differences are not large.
Is the calculator accurate?
This is an orientation tool. Accurate values can only be obtained in laboratory conditions with oxygen measurement. Here you get a practical approximation.
