How much time has passed? Calculate exact

Time calculator calculates the exact difference between two dates (with hours and minutes) and shows the result in two ways:split(years, months, days, hours, minutes) andtotal(sum of weeks, days, hours and minutes). You can use it to check how much time has passed since any event or how much time is left until an important date.

Typical uses of

  • how many days have passed since some date (e.g. since submitting the application),
  • how much time has passed since birth - more precisely than in years,
  • length of service between two dates,
  • counting down time to events.

How much time has passed - what will the calculator calculate

The time calculator answers questions such as "how much time has passed since..." and "how much time until...": it will express the difference between two dates in years, months, weeks, days, and even hours and minutes. Typical applications: how much time has passed since the wedding or anniversary (and when the anniversary falls), how long you have been at work, how many days you have been alive (the 10,000th day of life is a great excuse to celebrate - it falls before your 28th birthday), how much time is left until an exam, departure or retirement.

The result is given in two conventions at once:calendar("2 years, 3 months and 12 days" - this is how offices and seniority count) andabsolute(total number of days/hours - useful for deadlines and statistics). Both are correct, but differ for months of different lengths - that's why we show both.

Timekeeping pitfalls to know about

  • Leap year:every 4 years, but years divisible by 100 are not leap years unless they are divisible by 400 (2000 - yes, 2100 - no). The calculator takes this into account.
  • "In a week" ≠ 7 business days:for official dates use thebusiness day calculator.
  • The change of time(summer/winter) does not affect the number of days, but when counting hours, a March day has 23 hours and an October day has 25 hours.
  • You can check the week number for any date in the toolwhich week of the year.

Interesting time conversions - how many days, hours and seconds

Time is easier to imagine when we convert it into smaller units. There are exactly86,400 secondsin a day (24 × 60 × 60) and 1,440 minutes. The table below shows how many days, hours, minutes and seconds the most popular time intervals are divided into:

RangeDaysHoursMinutesSeconds
1 week716810,080604,800
1 month (30 days)3072043,2002,592,000
1 year (365 days)3658,760525 60031,536,000
1 decade (10 years)3,65287,6485.26 million315.5 million

Hence a few interesting facts that can be easily checked with this calculator:a million secondsis only about 11.5 days, buta billion secondsis almost 31.7 years - the difference between a million and a billion can literally be seen on the scale of life. Round anniversaries of the day of life are also impressive:The 10,000th day of lifeoccurs at the age of approximately 27 years and 4 months, and the20,000th dayoccurs just before the 55th birthday.
