How to use the TikTok Ads Cost Calculator

The TikTok Ads Cost Calculator turns three numbers from your campaign plan into four metrics that are easy to compare with your goals. Enter your data and you'll see the results right away.

  1. Budget / day — how much you want to spend on ads each day. The default is $80.
  2. Cost per 1000 impressions (CPM) — how much you pay for a thousand ad impressions. The default is $12.
  3. Click-through rate (CTR %) — the percentage of impressions that result in a click. The default is 1.2%.

The results you get: impressions per day, clicks per day, cost per click (CPC), and monthly budget for 30 days.

Here's what the tool shows with the default settings:

Field or resultValue
Budget / day$80
Cost per 1000 impressions (CPM)$12
Click-through rate (CTR %)1.2%
Impressions / day6,667
Clicks / day80
Cost per click (CPC)$1.00
Monthly budget (30 days)$2,400.00

Where do these numbers come from? Impressions are your daily budget divided by CPM and multiplied by 1,000. Clicks are impressions times the CTR percentage divided by 100. Cost per click is your daily budget divided by clicks, and monthly budget is your daily budget times 30.

How to choose CPM and CTR for your TikTok campaign

CPM and CTR change the result the most. In the calculator, they're the default values in the fields — change them to your own and test a few scenarios in seconds.

CPM is the cost of a thousand impressions. In practice, it varies: it depends on the country, target audience, competition in the ad auction, time of year, and creative format. It's best to enter the rate you see in your ads dashboard and check current pricing before planning your budget.

CTR is click-through rate, or the share of clicks out of impressions. It depends mainly on the creative: the first few seconds of the video, sound, how well it fits the audience, and a clear call to click.

  • Not sure what to enter? Leave the default values as a starting point.
  • Have campaign data? Enter your own CPM and CTR to make the result closer to reality.
  • Testing variations? Compare a conservative scenario (higher CPM, lower CTR) with an optimistic one.

A few minutes testing creatives gives you more than searching for perfect rates online.

How to interpret CPC and monthly budget

Cost per click (CPC) tells you how much you pay on average for one click. It comes from a simple comparison: divide your daily budget by the number of clicks. At $80 and 80 clicks, that's $1.00. The higher the CTR at the same CPM, the lower the CPC.

Monthly budget (30 days) is your daily budget times 30, or $80 × 30 = $2,400.00. This is a useful value for planning, but remember that a calendar month can be shorter or longer than 30 days.

MetricWhat it shows
Impressions / dayThe reach you'll buy with your daily budget
Clicks / dayHow much traffic will reach your site or store
Cost per click (CPC)How much you pay for one visit
Monthly budgetThe scale of your spend over a longer period

Compare CPC with how much you earn on average from one visit or order. If the cost per click is higher than the value the traffic brings, the campaign doesn't make sense, even if the table looks good.

What affects the real cost of TikTok ads

The calculator works from three inputs, but the real cost of a campaign depends on many factors. It's worth knowing them so you don't treat the result as a promise.

  • Ad auction — you compete with other advertisers for every impression. When more advertisers join, the cost of a thousand impressions goes up.
  • Target audience and location — a narrow audience and expensive markets raise rates; a broader audience and cheaper markets lower them.
  • Seasonality — holidays, sales, and periods of higher traffic change demand for ads.
  • Creative quality — strong first seconds and a clear call to action raise CTR, which lowers cost per click.
  • Campaign objective and billing method — reach, traffic, and conversion campaigns may be billed differently.
  • Production cost — recording, editing, music, voiceover, or graphics are expenses outside your ad budget.
  • Management and tools — an agency, freelancer, and extra software also count toward the total.

That's why you should treat the result as a benchmark: it shows what will happen at the CPM and CTR you enter, not what the campaign will cost under every condition. Check current rates in the platform's pricing and in your own ad account data.

Tool limitations and what it doesn't calculate (VAT, taxes, production, auction volatility)

This calculator is simple by design and calculates only what you see in the fields. That's its strength, but also its limit.

  • It doesn't include VAT or taxes. The amounts you enter and see are not broken down into tax and other charges.
  • It doesn't add production costs — recording, editing, photos, music, voiceover, or the work of the people creating the ads.
  • It doesn't include extra fees — commissions, management costs, subscriptions, or agency services.
  • It doesn't convert currencies — it works in US dollars by default and doesn't apply exchange rates.
  • It doesn't know your individual terms — discounts, contracts, or negotiated rates.
  • It doesn't predict auction changes — it assumes the CPM and CTR you enter, even though they can change from day to day.
  • It doesn't calculate conversions — it doesn't know how many clickers will buy, sign up for a newsletter, or send an inquiry.
  • It doesn't cover periods other than 30 days — the monthly budget is always the daily budget times 30.
  • It doesn't load or export data — you enter everything manually and read the results on screen.

So the result is an estimate and works best as a quick scenario check: how much traffic you'll buy for a given amount and how the picture changes if you improve CPM or CTR. For budget decisions, add your own data on costs, margins, and conversions, plus current rates from the platform's pricing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does TikTok advertising cost per day?

There's no single fixed amount because cost depends on the auction, target audience, and creative. The calculator will show you how many impressions and clicks you can buy for the budget you enter — with the default settings, $80 per day gives you 6,667 impressions and 80 clicks.

How do I calculate CPC in TikTok ads?

Divide your daily budget by the number of clicks. The calculator does this automatically: with an $80 budget and 80 clicks, the cost per click is $1.00.

Where do I get the CPM value for the calculator?

Ideally from your own ads dashboard or the platform's current pricing, because rates change over time and vary by market. The default $12 is just a starting value that you can change freely.

What CTR should I enter?

Use the CTR you actually achieve in your campaigns — click-through rate depends on the industry, target audience, and the creative itself. If you don't have data yet, start with the default 1.2% and update it after your first results.

How do I calculate a monthly TikTok ads budget?

Multiply your daily budget by 30. The calculator does it for you: $80 per day is $2,400.00 for 30 days. Keep in mind that a calendar month can have a different number of days.

Does the calculator include VAT and production costs?

No. The tool calculates impressions, clicks, cost per click, and monthly budget from three fields. Add VAT, taxes, content production, and extra fees outside the calculator.

CPM and CTR rates are estimates and depend on the auction, target audience, and market; before you plan a budget, check the current TikTok Ads pricing and billing rules.
