For example: If the recommended dose of an antibiotic is 20 mg per kg of body weight per day and the patient weighs 15 kg, then the total daily dose of the medication is:15 kg × 20 mg/kg = 300 mg. If the medicine is to be given in 3 divided doses, each single dose will be 100 mg.
