Winning the lottery is good, but it is good to know in advance what part will go to tax and what part will go to your account. This calculator will quickly calculate the tax on lottery winnings (and similar games of chance), taking into account the tax rate, possible exemption threshold and method of withholding (withholding or on your own). Enter the amount of gross winnings and set the parameters - you will receive the tax amount and the net result to be paid.

What does the calculator count - scope and logic
- Gross winning amount– total value of the cash prize or cash equivalent of the prize in kind.
- Tax rate– percentage calculated on the basis (configurable in the form).
- Exemption threshold– the value up to which the winnings may be exempt from tax (if the regulations provide for it). In the calculator, this field is optional and editable.
- Tax base– part of the winnings on which you calculate tax (taking into account thresholds, exemptions and rounding rules).
- Tax– amount calculated based on the rate and basis.
- Net amount to be withdrawn– winnings after tax deduction.
Formulas and theory
Standard variant – one-time winnings, flat tax
If winnings ≤ exemption_threshold: Tax = 0 Net = Gross_winnings If win > exemption_threshold: Base = Gross_winning - exemption_threshold Tax = Base × (Rate/100) Net = Gross_Winning - Tax
No exemption threshold
Base = Gross_Winning Tax = Base × (Rate/100) Net = Gross_Winning - Tax
Practical rules
- Withholding:in many cases, the organizer withholds tax before paying the prize. The user receives the net amount immediately.
- Winnings in kind:may be based on the market value of the prize. The calculator allows you to enter the equivalent amount (prize value) and calculate the tax due.
- Rounding:in practice, rounding rules for the base and tax are used - the calculator can reflect them if you enable this option in the form.
