If you have failed exactly one compulsory subject, you are entitled to a resit exam in August. If two or more subjects have been failed, the Matura exam can only be retaken in one year.

The CKE announces the results of the Matura exams onat the beginning of July(in recent years it was July 8–9, certificates on the same day in the ZIU system). If you have not passedonecompulsory subject - you are entitled to aresit examination in August(written: approximately August 25). How to calculate the average Matura exam result for recruitment
Universities do not look at "pass/fail", but atpercentages in individual subjects- usually at the advanced level. A score of 30% is sufficient for a certificate, but for popular fields of study, results of 60-90% in extensions are really important. After calculating whether the Matura exam has been passed, check your recruitment rate inpoints calculator for studies.
Points thresholds for studies 2026 - how many percentages for medicine, law, IT
The very fact of passing the Matura exam (30% threshold) is only a ticket to recruitment - admission is determined by the number of recruitment points calculated fromextensionsaccording to the model of a given university. Below are the approximate results that in recent years allowed you to get into the most popular fields of study (thresholds change every year depending on the number of applicants):
| Field of study | Key subjects (extension) | Approximate threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Medicine (medical field) | biology + chemistry (+ sometimes physics/mathematics) | approx. 85–95% of each |
| Law (top universities) | Polish language / history / WOS + foreign language | approx. 75–90% |
| Computer science (top polytechnics) | mathematics + physics/computer science | approx. 80–95% in mathematics |
| Psychology | biology / Polish + foreign language | approx. 70–85% |
| Less popular fields | depending on the faculty | from the pass rate (30%) upwards |
Each university assigns its ownweightsto the subjects (e.g. extended mathematics ×1, second subject ×0.6) and sometimes adds points for the bilingual level or olympiads. Therefore, the same high school leaving examination result gives a different number of points in different fields. To convert your percentages to the recruitment rate of a specific university, use thestudy points calculator- insert your extension results and compare the fields side by side.
Inspection of work and appeal against the Matura exam result
If your result seems to be low, you have specific rights. Within6 monthsfrom the announcement of the results, you can submit an application forinspection of's verified work at the district examination board (OKE). During the inspection, you are allowed to take photos of the sheet and make notes, but do not take it out of the room. If you find that the task was graded inconsistently with the rules, within2 business days ofof review, you submit an application for verification of the sum of points and an appeal against its result to theCollege of Examination Arbitration, where the case is considered by independent experts (the decision is final). This is a path that can actually increase the result by several percent - sometimes decisive for admission to your dream field.
