South Korea, a country with extremely modern technology (home to giants such as Samsung and Hyundai), dynamic pop culture (K-pop and K-drama) and beautiful monuments, attracts an increasing number of tourists and business partners from Europe. If you are planning a flight to Seoul-Incheon airport, organizing business meetings with partners from Seoul, or following e-sports competitions, you must precisely set the local time. Our live South Korea accurate clock shows precise time without delay.
South Korea has a simple and uniform official time system throughout the country.
South Korea Time Zone - Korea Standard Time (KST)
The entire territory of South Korea is in one time zone calledKorea Standard Time (KST). Like Japan, South Korea **does not use summer/winter time**. The time throughout the year is:
\[ \text{South Korea} = \text{UTC} + 9 \]This means that the time in South Korea is 9 hours behind UTC (London). This time zone is identical to Japan Time (JST) and Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT).
Time difference between Poland and South Korea
Due to the fact that in Poland we change the time twice a year, and South Korea remains at the constant UTC+9, the time difference changes seasonally:
1. During the summer in Poland (from the end of March to the end of October):
\[ T_{\text{Korea}} = T_{\text{Poland}} + 7 \]South Korea is ahead of Poland by7 hours. When it's 10:00 a.m. in July in Warsaw, it's already 5:00 p.m. in Seoul.
2. During the winter in Poland (from the end of October to the end of March):
\[ T_{\text{Korea}} = T_{\text{Poland}} + 8 \]The time difference increases to8 hours. When it's 10:00 a.m. in December in Warsaw, it's already 6:00 p.m. in South Korea.
History of time changes in South Korea
South Korea has experimented with daylight saving time (DST) several times in its history. It was first introduced in the late 1940s and then in the 1950s during the Korean War to optimize energy use by allied forces. The last time daylight saving time was in effect was in 1987–1988. This decision was directly related to the organization of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. The goal was to facilitate live television broadcasts for viewers in North America and Europe. After the Games ended, due to citizen protests (complaining about the disruption of the natural daily rhythm) and the lack of tangible economic benefits, this system was permanently abandoned.

"Hoesik" corporate culture and the rhythm of the day and employee regeneration in Korea
Korean corporate culture is famous for enormous time pressure and long working hours, but its integral (and often exhausting) element is the so-called "Hoesik" - mandatory team-building meetings for employees after working hours, combined with food and alcohol consumption. These meetings, organized by department management, can last until late at night and consist of several stages in different premises (so-called "1-cha", "2-cha"). Despite returning home late, employees are absolutely obliged to report to the office the next morning promptly at 08:00 or 09:00 without showing any fatigue. This specific cultural model poses huge challenges to the biological regeneration of the body and requires extraordinary discipline from Koreans in managing time and life energy.
Port of Busan - Maritime Logistics in the KST Time Zone
The Port of Busan, located on the southeastern tip of South Korea, is one of the largest and most modern container ports in the world, handling gigantic exports of Korean electronics, cars and steel. The operational efficiency of the port is based on automation and time precision. The port's logistics systems manage the movement of hundreds of mega-container ships every week. The time needed to load and unload ships is measured in minutes, and any delay caused by storms in the Sea of Japan generates enormous costs for global supply chains. For importers from Poland, goods shipped from Busan travel by sea to Gdansk (DCT port) for approximately 35-40 days, which requires precise logistics planning, taking into account transport time.
"Palli-Palli" (fast-fast) culture as the driving force of South Korea
The key to understanding the Korean approach to time is the ubiquitous concept of "Palli-Palli" (Korean: 빨리빨ri), which means "fast, fast". This social and cultural imperative was born during the country's intense economic reconstruction after the Korean War and became the foundation of the economic miracle on the Han River. In today's South Korea, rushing and being efficient are the norm. All services - from express deliveries of online purchases in a few hours to ultra-fast fiber optic connections - must be provided quickly. In public transport, for example in the Seoul subway or KTX bullet trains, deviations from the schedule exceeding several dozen seconds are rare and require an official apology from the carrier. For foreigners, this culture can be fascinating, but also extremely stressful.
