A week is a commonly used unit of time, consisting of 7 days. Unlike the day (the Earth's rotation around its axis), the month (the Moon's revolution around the Earth) and the year (the Earth's revolution around the Sun), the week has no direct justification in astronomical phenomena. Its origin is cultural and historical. They are attributed to the ancient Babylonians, who divided the lunar cycle (approx. 28 days) into four phases of 7 days each, dedicating each day to one of the seven celestial bodies known at that time. This system was taken over by the Jews and later by the Romans, thanks to which it became the basis of the Christian Julian and Gregorian calendars.
Our precise online weeks calculator allows you to quickly convert the selected number of weeks into days, hours, minutes and seconds. The tool is helpful when planning projects at work, calculating pregnancy time or tracking training progress.
Time conversion formulas: how many days, hours and minutes are there in a week?
The mathematical structure of the week is based on fixed units of measurement of time:
1 week = 7 days1 week = 168 hours(7 days × 24 hours)1 week = 10,080 minutes(168 hours × 60 minutes)1 week = 604,800 seconds(10,080 minutes × 60 seconds)
To convert weeks (T) into days (D), hours (G) or minutes (M), simple multiplication is used:
D = T × 7
G = T × 168
M = T × 10,080

- Project management (Sprints):In agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum), the team's work is divided into the so-called sprints usually lasting 1 or 2 weeks.
- Medicine and gynecology:The age of pregnancy and the stages of fetal development have been counted for years and given by doctors only in weeks (e.g. 12th week of pregnancy).
- Labor law:Working time in Poland is regulated on a weekly basis (on average 40 hours in a five-day working week).
