How to Use: Uploading and Cropping the Photo and Signature

The tool prepares two files: a face photo and a signature. Processing happens on your device — the files you choose are not sent to any server.

1. Choose a face photo file, then a scan or clear photo of your signature.
2. After you select a file, a cropper appears with a preview and a zoom slider.
3. Drag the crop area with your finger or mouse to decide which part of the image will be included in the output file.
4. Enter the dimensions in pixels and the file size range in KB — separately for the photo and separately for the signature.
5. Click 'Prepare files' and download the ready image files.

The crop area has the same aspect ratio as the dimensions you enter: for the photo, it is the photo width divided by the photo height; for the signature, it is the signature width divided by the signature height. This way, the crop shape matches the shape of the output file.

If you click 'Prepare files' without selecting both items, you will see the message 'Select both files: photo and signature.' Choose the missing file and try again.

Setting Pixel Dimensions and KB Range According to the Notice

Before you upload anything, open the current notice or form instructions and write down four things: the photo dimensions, the allowed file size for the photo, the signature dimensions, and the allowed file size for the signature.

The tool has fields for these values. They are filled with starting values that you should treat only as a starting point — you can change them to your own. Enter dimensions in pixels and file size as a range from-to in kilobytes.

The tool fits the output file size to the range you enter. The narrower the range, the less flexibility the fitting has, so enter exactly what you found in the requirements, not values you guessed.

Keep in mind that requirements can differ between institutions and may change between notices. The tool does not know which form you are preparing files for — you are responsible for making sure the values you enter are current.

Zoom and Crop Proportions — How to Avoid Ruining Quality

The zoom slider lets you zoom in or out on the image inside the crop area. By default, it is at the starting value, where you see the full selected area. As you move it, you decide how tightly the crop frames the face or signature.

When zooming in, remember one thing: zoom does not add detail. If the crop includes only a small part of the uploaded photo, the output file will be less sharp than the source. The best results come from a photo with a resolution higher than the required dimensions and a crop that does not require heavy zooming.

The second important point is proportions. The shape of the crop comes from the dimensions you enter. When you change the dimensions, the crop ratio changes, and what you set earlier may no longer fit — so set the dimensions from the notice first, then crop. If you need to go back to the dimensions, check the crop again after changing them.

For the signature, make sure the entire signature fits inside the crop and does not touch the edges. For the face photo, check that the face is fully visible and that the crop does not cut it off at an arbitrary point.

Tool Limitations and What It Does Not Check

The tool prepares image files and fits them to the dimensions and size range you enter. However, it cannot check whether they meet all formal requirements.

• Current requirements. The starting values are only a starting point. The tool will not check for you exactly what the institution you are submitting your application to requires today.
• Photo content. It does not evaluate the background, lighting, sharpness, facial expression, or whether the photo contains elements that the requirements prohibit.
• Signature content. It does not verify that the signature is legible, complete, and consistent with the pattern required on the form.
• Source quality. What you get depends on what you upload. A blurry photo will not become sharp — you can change the crop, zoom, and dimensions, but you cannot recover missing details.
• No photo editing. The tool does not remove backgrounds, retouch, sharpen, or correct colors.
• Supported files. Common image files work best, meaning photos and scans saved as images. Unusual formats may not load on your device.
• Acceptance by the form. Just because a file has the right dimensions and size does not mean the system will accept it without objections. Final verification is done by the form you upload the file to.

Processing happens in your browser, so nothing is saved by the site — after you close the page, the uploaded files disappear.

Common Problems: File Outside KB Range, Cropping Lost After Changing Dimensions, No Preview

File outside KB range. If the output file does not fit within the range, check whether you entered the values from the notice in the correct order — the smaller value in the lower field, the larger value in the upper field. A very narrow range can be hard to hit, so make sure the requirement really says that.

Cropping lost after changing dimensions. The crop shape is tied to the dimensions you enter. Any change in aspect ratio can make what you set earlier shift or stop fitting. Set the dimensions first and return to cropping only after confirming them.

No preview. The cropper appears only after you select a file. If you do not see it, check whether the file was actually selected, and select it again. Also make sure you are choosing an image, not a document.

Message about selecting both files. When you see 'Select both files: photo and signature,' one of the items is missing. Select it and click 'Prepare files' again.

Blurry result after heavy zooming. This happens because the crop covers a small part of the source. Reduce the zoom or upload a higher-resolution photo.
