Screen diagonal in inches - TVs, monitors, phones
You most often encounter inches on screens. Remember: the diagonal is not the width! A 55" TV has a diagonal of approx. 140 cm, but a width of approx. 122 cm (with a 16:9 aspect ratio). How do tire sizes combine inches and metric?
215/65 R16: 215 = profile width in mm, 65 = side height to width ratio (%), R16 = rim diameter in inches (16"×2.54=40.64 cm). Mixed system! Wheel diagonal = (215×0.65×2 + 16×25.4) = 685.5 mm ≈ 68.6 cm.
