What is a DNS speed test and why do it
Every website you visit starts with a DNS query. It is a system that translates a human-readable domain (e.g.mojastrona.pl) into an IP address recognized by computers. If the DNS server is slow, your browser needs more time to connect to the website. Therefore, choosing the right DNS provider can speed up the entire page loading process and increase the comfort of using the Internet.
DNS Online (DoH) Speed Testis a tool that allows you to compare the response time of different DNS servers that support the DoH (DNS over HTTPS) protocol. Thanks to this, you can check which operator works the fastest in your location. The test results show the minimum, average and maximum response time in milliseconds. This is a simple method to find out which DNS you should set up on your router or computer.
Why is this important? Imagine that each visit to the website begins with a short "check in the Internet phone book". If the book is at hand, everything goes quickly. If you have to look for it far away or it is messy, the whole process takes longer. This is how DNS works - fast DNS server = faster surfing.
How the DNS speed measurement tool (DoH) works
Our test is based on a simple mechanism: the tool sends DNS queries to selected providers and measures the time it takes to obtain a response. Everything is done via the DoH protocol (DNS over HTTPS), which provides encryption and greater security compared to standard DNS.
In practice, this means that your browser connects to DNS servers the same way it connects to any other website - via HTTPS. This makes DNS queries less susceptible to eavesdropping or manipulation. The test allows you not only to check the speed, but also to verify the stability and availability of various service providers.
The results are presented in a clear table and chart. Each server is assigned a name, IP address and three time values:min(shortest response time),avg.(average response time) andmax(longest response time in the test series). Thanks to this, you will quickly find out which supplier is the most reliable and which one has large spikes in delays.
Features and Options Available in DNS Test
DNS Online (DoH) Speed Testis designed to be both simple to use and useful for people who want to analyze their connection in more depth. In the interface you will find several settings and functions that allow you to tailor the test to your needs.
- Number of repetitions– you can specify how many times the tool should query the same server. This will make the average result more reliable.
- Response timeout (timeout)– you define how many milliseconds the tool will wait for a response. If the DNS server doesn't make it, the test will mark it as unreachable.
- Automatic sorting– after the test is completed, the results table arranges the servers in order from fastest to slowest.
- Chart report– in addition to the table, you see a clear bar chart that allows you to compare differences between suppliers in a fraction of a second.
- Real-time status– for each server you will see whether it responded correctly or whether there were errors, e.g. "timeout" or "CORS blocked".
These options make the test not a one-time measurement, but a true diagnostic tool. You can run it multiple times, changing parameters, to see how stable the results are. This is especially useful if you want to compare DNS at different times of the day or from different devices.
