How to use the calculator - step by step
- Enter your heightin centimeters. If you have fluctuations (e.g. in the morning vs. in the evening), use the value "every day".

What do the results mean and how can they be implemented in practice?
This is the height of the countertop at whichshoulders are relaxed, and the elbows work within their natural range (usually around the right angle). If after positioning you feel that your shoulders are going up, the tabletop is too high. If you "fly" down and slouch, it may be too low.
Ergonomics is not a pharmacy. That's why instead of one number you have ranges, e.g.72–76 cm. If you use a thick wrist rest, raise the keyboard or have a high tabletop - the forks are your buffer.
This is the starting point for sit-stand desks. In practice, you can adjust the height by 1-3 cm, depending on your shoes, anti-fatigue mat and whether you work more with a keyboard or a mouse.

How does the calculator calculate heights? Simple and predictable
The built-in logic is based on proportions (i.e. "how many percentages of growth"), because it is the fastest method of finding a reasonable base. Its purpose is not to replace a physiotherapist, just to give you a set-up, which in most cases it issurprisingly close to perfect, especially when everything was "by eye" before.

The most common mistakes when setting up the workstation
1) A desk "under the chair", not under the elbows
Many people set the chair "so that the legs are comfortable", and then adjust the desk... but the desk is fixed. The result: your shoulders go up or you slouch to reach the keyboard. A better order is:feet and pelvis → elbows → monitor.
2) Monitor too low or too far
If the screen is too low, your head drops down and your neck works all day long. If the screen is too far away, you start to stick your neck forward. The calculator gives you a distance range and the height of the top of your monitor so you don't have to guess.
3) Armrests "fight" with the tabletop
Armrests can help, but they can also spoil the ergonomics if they are too high. Typical symptom: you can't slide your chair under the counter, so you sit further and lean over. If this is the case, lower the armrests or test working without them.
4) One position all day long
Even perfect positioning cannot beat stillness. The best ergonomics are those that allowto change the position: micro-movements, standing up, short breaks, sitting/standing switching. Therefore, the result for "standing desk" is a great addition if you have an adjustable desk.
A simple “60-second test” after setting up your desk
- Sit deep in a chair, feet flat on the floor (or firmly on a footrest).
- Lower your shoulders. If you feel like you have to lift them, the countertop is too high.
- Place your hands on the keyboard: your wrists should not be bent much up or down.
- Look at the screen: the head should not move forward and the neck should be "long".
- After a minute, ask yourself: is the body relaxed? If so, you are close to perfect.
FAQ – frequently asked questions
Can I use a calculator for a gaming desk?
Yes. The rules are the same: shoulders low, elbows comfortable, monitor at a reasonable height. The difference is in the details: when playing, you make quick movements with the mouse more often, so some people prefer the tabletop slightly lower to relieve the shoulder of the dominant hand. Start with the calculator result and then test the adjustment within the tolerance range.
What if I have a fixed desk and the result "doesn't match"?
Then you work with a "chair": you raise/lower the seat and use the footrest if necessary. When the tabletop is too high, sometimes a thinner mouse/keyboard pad helps. If the tabletop is too low, consider pads for the desk legs or a riser (this can be easier than replacing the furniture).
Why is it worth specifying your own seat height?
Because real chairs have different constructions. For many people, "proportion to height" is great, but if you have unusual leg proportions or the chair is placed under a specific table, entering your own seat height gives more "your" results (at the expense of a slightly lower Ergo Score).
Is Ergo Score a health assessment?
No. This is simple, technical information: whether you ride on the default setting (100%), or use your own seat (e.g. 85%), which means more variables in practice. The real test is comfort after a few hours and no neck/shoulder tension.
What is the best distance from the monitor?
The most common way to check is the range given by the calculator as a start. In practice: a larger screen is usually a little further away, a smaller one a little closer. If you find yourself moving your head forward, move the monitor away or increase the scaling/font. If you squint, move closer, but without touching the screen.
