Pipe volume and pipe weight calculator - liters, m³, gallons, surface area and weight in one place

It's like this with pipes: they look simple on paper, but in practice they can make a mess. How many liters will enter the pipeline before the leak test? How much solution do you need to prepare for rinsing? How to calculate the weight of an entire batch of pipes before sending a transport request? This calculator is for situations like this. You enter the internal diameter, length and number of pieces and you get the capacity in liters, cubic meters and gallons (US). If you add the outside diameter and select the material, it will also calculate the wall volume, weight, kg/m and surface areas (inner and outer) - exactly what is most often needed in cost estimates, logistics and work planning.

What will you calculate in this calculator

The most important thing is thecapacity of the pipe, i.e. the internal volume. This is the answer to the question: "how much liquid does it hold inside?" The calculator converts the result into liters (L), cubic meters (m³) and US gallons (US gal), because these units appear in documentation, technology cards and orders.

When you enterthe outer diameter, a second set of results appears:volume of the wall material(how much "plastic/steel" is in the pipe),wall cross-sectional area(in mm²), and after selecting the material -mass(kg),total massper lot andmass per meter(kg/m).

In addition, there are the following surfaces:internal(useful, e.g. for estimating the surface of contact with the medium or cleaning) andexternal(painting, insulation, gluing, protective coat). These are the parameters that save the most time in real projects, because they usually have to be taken "somewhere" anyway.

The most important difference: inner vs. outer diameter

If you want to calculateliquid capacity, you are interested in the inner diameterinternal. It describes the space that the medium will fill. Theouter diameteris needed when you want to calculate thepipe mass i outer surface.

It sounds trivial, but this is the most common mistake: someone takes the diameter from the invoice or the DN designation and enters it as the inner diameter. Effect? The capacity is either too small or too small and there is no medium for rinsing. This calculator deliberately treats the outer diameter as optional: you can quickly count liters without going into wall thickness, and when you need mass - only then do you add OD.

Simple rule:capacity = inside diameter. Weight and painting = outer diameter + material.

How to use a calculator to make the result "sure"

Enter the internal diameter in millimeters (mm), the length of the section in meters (m) and the number of pipes. This is the most convenient because this is how we usually work on construction sites and in the office: diameters in mm, lengths in meters. If you are counting an installation with multiple sections, you can think of the "number of pipes" as the number of identical segments. You get the total result immediately, without manual multiplication and without the risk of losing a decimal point somewhere.

If you care about the mass, enter the outer diame
