What the calculator calculates and for whom
The calculator answers three questions. What is your pace in min/km for a given distance and time. What is the speed in km/h? How long will a given distance take while maintaining this pace? The tool will be used by people starting to run, recreational runners planning a personal best, coaches planning tempo tasks and users combining running with weight loss. The interface is simple, the result is clear, and the tips provided help transfer the numbers to your daily agenda.
Input. What do you enter
- Distancein kilometers. You can enter values with decimal places, for example 5.00, 10.00, 21.10, 42.20, but also any training 6.4 or 12.3.
- Timeas hours, minutes and seconds. Enter the actual running or walking time. You don't need to count breaks unless you want to count the pace of the entire session including them.
After clicking Calculate, you will see your pace in min/km, speed in km/h and total time organized in a convenient format. Additional paragraphs explain the meaning of the result and provide practical examples of its use.
Step-by-step instructions
- Enter the distance in kilometers. If you plan to start, use the official values 5.00, 10.00, 21.10, 42.20. If it's a workout, enter any distance.
- Set the running time in the hours, minutes, seconds fields. You can enter only minutes and seconds if the run lasted less than an hour.
- Click Calculate. Read the pace in min/km and speed in km/h.
- If you want to see the time forecast for a different distance at the same pace, change the distance and recalculate.
How to read the result
- Min/km paceis the average time taken to cover one kilometer during the session.
- Speed km/hallows you to compare running with other activities, for example riding a stationary bike.
- The total time ofis expressed in the format hh:mm:ss. Use it to plan nutrition and hydration points.
Calculation examples
Continuous training 5 km in 27:30
You enter 5.00 km and 00:27:30. The result is a pace of5:30 min/kmand a speed of about10.9 km/h. At this pace, a 10k will take about 55 minutes and a half marathon will take about 1:56.
Easy run-up for 10 km in 1:05:00
For 10.00 km and 01:05:00 the pace will be6:30 min/km, the speed will be approximately9.2 km/h. This is a comfortable intensity for building a base.
Quick accent 3 km in 12:30
For 3.00 km and 00:12:30 the pace is4:10 min/km, the speed is about14.4 km/h. Use as a reference point for tempo sections.
Walking 7.2 km in 55:00
For 7.20 km and 00:55:00 the pace is7:38 min/km, the speed is about7.9 km/h. A good backdrop to assess your progress as you gradually shorten your walking breaks.
