How do I convert minutes to decimal hours for payroll purposes?
To convert minutes to decimal, divide the number of minutes by sixty. For example, 15 minutes is 0.25 hours (15/60), 30 minutes is 0.5 hours, and 45 minutes is 0.75 hours. If you worked 8 hours and 45 minutes, in decimal format it would be 8.75 hours. This makes it easier to multiply by the rate.
