It allows you to quickly and precisely calculate the amount of materials necessary to build a panel or mesh fence. By entering the basic dimensions of the plot, the calculator will determine the required number of panels, posts, brackets, foundations as well as gates and wickets, which allows you to accurately estimate the costs and avoid purchasing excess materials.
Key steps when planning and dimensioning a fence
Before you start shopping and installing a fence, the first and most important step is to carefully measure the area. Fence lines should be marked taking into account the geodetic boundaries of the plot and possible terrain obstacles, such as trees, slopes or underground installations. The next step is to plan the location of the entrance gate and entrance gate, because their width must be subtracted from the total length of the fence.
It is also worth paying attention to the terrain. If the plot has a large slope, it may be necessary to use a stepped (cascade) fence, which affects the length of the posts and the method of installing the foundation. Our calculator allows you to take these parameters into account, ensuring that the calculations will be as close as possible to the actual conditions on the construction site.
How does the calculator calculate the need for fencing materials?
Calculations are based on standard dimensions of fencing elements available on the market. The most popular fence panels are 250 cm wide, and the posts are usually installed with an axial spacing of approx. 256-258 cm (taking into account the width of the post and the distance on the clamps). The calculator divides the total length of the fence (after subtracting the gate and wicket) by the width of a single span with mounting elements, rounding the result up to whole pieces.
The number of posts is directly related to the number of panels - in a straight line there is always one more posts than panels (the so-called end post). The calculator also takes into account corner posts and starting posts at the gate and wicket. Additionally, the tool precisely calculates the need for mounting clamps (intermediate, starting and corner), the number of which per post depends on the height of the selected panel (usually from 2 to 4 clamps per post).
Advantages of using a concrete foundation and installation tips
Concrete foundation (prefabricated) is becoming a standard when installing modern panel fences. It protects the lower part of the panel against moisture and vegetation, prevents animals from digging in and stabilizes the entire structure. The calculator allows you to include foundation slabs and concrete connectors in the calculations. During installation, remember to properly embed the posts in the ground - the holes should have a depth below the ground frost zone (usually 80-120 cm depending on the region of Poland), which will prevent the posts from blowing up during winter frosts.

How to calculate the number of fence panels?
Divide the total length of the fence (minus the gate and wicket) by the width of one panel along with the installation distance (standard 2.58 m) and round the result up.
How many fence posts do I need to install the panels?
In a straight section of the fence, the number of posts is: number of panels + 1. If the fence has curves, additional corner posts should be added.
What should be the spacing of posts for 2.5 m panels?
The recommended axial spacing (from the center to the center of the post) for standard panels is 256-258 cm, depending on the type of clamps used and the thickness of the post (usually 60x40 mm).
Does the fence calculator include gates and wickets?
Yes, you can define the number and width of gates and wickets in the calculator. Their total width will be automatically subtracted from the total perimeter of the fence.
How many mounting clamps per post?
The number of clamps depends on the height of the panel. For panels up to 1.2 m high, 2 clamps are usually used, for panels up to 1.5 m - 3 clamps, and for higher panels - 4 or more clamps.
