Other tools you may find usefulCPS test - measure your clicks speed (Clicks Per Second)
CPS (Clicks Per Second) is a measure of clicking speed - important in games such as Minecraft PvP, osu!, Roblox and FPS. The tool measures CPS at selected intervals (1, 5, 10 seconds), shows the session record and a graph of the distribution of clicks over time.
What is CPS and why measure it
CPS (Clicks Per Second): the number of mouse clicks per second. Average player: 4-8 CPS. Good player: 8-12 CPS. Professional players: 12-16 CPS. Records: Jitter clicking > 20 CPS, butterfly clicking > 25 CPS. Usage: Minecraft PvP (knockback chance), osu! (tapping), cookie clicker, idle games. Office: UI click speed.
Clicking techniques
Normal clicking: standard clicking with the index finger. 4-8 CPS. Jitter clicking: muscle tension (vibration), 10-16 CPS. Risk of RSI (injury). Butterfly clicking: two fingers on LMB alternately, 16-25 CPS. Drag clicking: Dragging the button generates many clicks, 25-50 CPS. Note: butterfly and drag clicking often banned by anti-cheat (Minecraft).
What affects the CPS score
Mouse: button optimized for clicking (low actuation force). Mouse Debounce: Double-click protection time. Latency: Lagging input reduces the effective CPS. Fatigue: CPS decreases after 5+ seconds. Technique: relaxation vs muscle tension. Room temperature: cold hands = slower. Health status: RSI significantly reduces CPS.
CPS Records and Rankings
World Record (dragon clicking): ~14.1 CPS (Tom Scott, 5 seconds). Butterfly: ~25 CPS. Drag: 40+ CPS (controversial). Speedrun.com: click race categories. osu! top players: 15-20 CPS in burst. Minecraft PvP standards: 10+ CPS = advantage in fights. CPS tests: speedsolver.net, cpstest.org.
FAQ
How much CPS does Minecraft PvP need?
Standard (1.8 PvP): the more CPS, the more chances for knockback. 6-8 CPS: casual PvP. 10-12 CPS: competitive. 14+ CPS: pro level. Vanilla 1.9+: attack cooldown – CPS < 4/s required for full damage. PvP servers vary: Hypixel, Badlion, etc. they have different mechanics.
What are the best mice for fast clicking?
Low debounce time: Logitech G Pro (1ms), Razer DeathAdder (1ms), Glorious Model O. Light buttons: <40g actuation force. Cable vs wireless: < 1ms difference in tests. SteelSeries: 45M clicks guarantee. For butterfly clicking: models with separate buttons (not "one piece shell"). Remember: technology > equipment.
Can high CPS damage your mouse?
Excessive clicking (jitter/drag): shortens the life of the microswitch. Standard mouse: 20M clicks. Gaming mouse: 50-80M clicks. For intensive CPS testing: realistic consumption is 100-1000 clicks/test. Service life: thousands of tests without problem. RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury): greater risk to the hand/wrist than to the mouse.
How to improve your CPS?
Technique: relax your hand - tension does not help. Practice short sets (1s), not just 10s. Warm-up: 30s of normal clicking before the test. Position: elbow resting, wrist stable. Training: 5-10 minutes every day. Avoid jitter: it's short term boost, long term RSI. Breaks: every 30 min clicks.
What is the difference between CPS and APM?
CPS (Clicks Per Second): only mouse clicks. APM (Actions Per Minute): all actions (clicks + keyboard). APM used in RTS (StarCraft: 200-400 APM pro). EAPM (Effective APM): no spam/errors. CPS test: a simple measure of click speed. APM: A measure of a player's overall speed.
