As you can see, the tool automatically adjusts the variations and format of the save, regardless of currency and style. This saves time and at the same time ensures that the result is linguistically correct and in line with documentation expectations.

Support for various number formats and large values

The converter can handle both simple notations, such as0.99, as well as more complex formats containing spaces or thousandths dots, e.g.1,234,567.89or1,234,567.89. The program automatically normalizes them and displays the result in the correct form. Thanks to this, you do not have to worry about differences in recording between systems or documents.

The tool also handles huge numbers, counted in millions or billions. Correctly conjures words such as million, billion or trillion, which often causes errors when written by hand. This is particularly useful in financial and legal documents, where linguistic correctness is of great importance.

Rules for writing amounts in words - how to write the amount correctly

The most common doubts when writing amounts in words concern the conjugation of the word "PLN" and writing cents. Simple rules apply:

  • 1— zloty / cent (one zloty),
  • 2, 3, 4and numbers ending in 2-4 (except 12-14) - zlotys / cents (twenty-three zlotys),
  • 5–21and numbers ending in 5-9, 0 and 12-14 - zlotys / cents (one hundred and five zlotys).

We write multi-word numerals separately:one thousand two hundred thirty-four. Mixed entries are often used in documents, e.g. "PLN 1,234.56 (in words: one thousand two hundred thirty-four zlotys 56/100)".

Pennies in the notation 00/100 - standard on invoices and contracts

In accounting, pennies are most often written as a hundredth fraction:56/100instead of "fifty-six cents". The full amount then looks like this: "in words: one hundred twenty-three zlotys 45/100". When the amount is round, it is added00/100- this clearly confirms that there are no pennies and makes it impossible to add anything after the amount. Our converter has an accounting mode that generates this format automatically.

Amount in words in English

In international agreements and on currency invoices, the amount is written in words in English. The rules are simpler than in Polish - the noun currency takes only singular or plural:

  • $123.45 -one hundred twenty-three US dollars and 45/100(or…and forty-five cents),
  • 1,000 EUR -one thousand euros only,
  • £2,500.00 -two thousand five hundred pounds and 00/100.

In British convention, "and" is added after hundreds (one hundred and twenty-three), in American they are usually omitted. Wordonlyat the end it has the same function as 00/100 - it closes the amount. Select USD, EUR or GBP currency in the tool to receive a ready-made entry in the appropriate convention.
