- The Legend of the Three Daughters:One of the most famous legends says that Nicholas secretly threw three purses of gold down the chimney into the house of a poor neighbor so that he could provide a dowry for his three daughters and save them from poverty. The purses fell into stockings drying by the fire - hence the custom of hanging stockings as gifts.

What is the difference between St. Nicholas Day (December 6) and Christmas Eve (December 24)?
December 6 is Saint's Day. Nicholas the Bishop, where small gifts and sweets are given under pillows or in shoes. On December 24 (Christmas Eve), the gifts are much larger and are brought under the Christmas tree by Santa Claus, Santa Claus, Angel or Baby (depending on the region of Poland) after the Christmas Eve gala dinner.

Where did the image of Santa Claus in a red suit with a beard come from?
We owe today's appearance of Santa Claus mainly to the American cartoonist Haddon Sundblom, who in 1931 created the figure of a smiling old man with rosy cheeks in a red coat with white fur for an advertising campaign of the Coca-Cola company. This image turned out to be so attractive that it replaced the traditional image of a bishop wearing a miter and carrying a crosier.
