Father's Day, celebrated in Poland every year on June 23, is a unique holiday dedicated to all fathers. It is a time when grandchildren and children thank their fathers for their upbringing efforts, care, sense of security, valuable life advice and support in realizing their dreams. The role of a father in the modern world is constantly evolving - a modern dad is not only the breadwinner of the family, but above all an active caregiver participating in the child's life from the first moments, being an authority, conversation partner and friend. Father's Day is a perfect opportunity to show your dad how important he is to us.
Our live counter counts down the time until the next Father's Day, down to the second. This allows you to plan time together, buy a gift that suits his passions or prepare wishes that will bring pride to his heart.
History of Father's Day - how did this holiday originate in the world and in Poland?
Father's Day was created as a natural complement to Mother's Day, and its initiator was a woman:
- Sonora Dodd's initiative (1910):The idea was born in the USA on the initiative of Sonora Smart Dodd from Washington. She wanted to honor the memory of her father - a Civil War veteran who, after the death of his wife, raised her and her five siblings alone.
- Standard in the USA:The first celebration took place on June 19, 1910. It wasn't until 1972 that President Richard Nixon made Father's Day an official national holiday on the third Sunday in June.
- Father's Day in Poland:Father's Day has been celebrated in Poland since 1965. Unlike the USA, our country has a fixed date - June 23 (interestingly, on the same day in many regions St. John's Eve / Kupala Night is celebrated).
